Men’s Health Month: Prioritize You

Men’s Health Month: Prioritize You

June is Men’s Health Month. It’s a reminder to put your health first. From physical and mental health to sexual wellness, it’s time to take charge and stay ahead of preventable issues.

The facts:
Men in the U.S. are living shorter lives, with average life expectancy under 75. And according to a national survey, most men don’t rate their health—physical, mental, or sexual—as excellent1. But that can change.

You are your strongest health advocate. Start with these three simple steps:

1. Book Your Annual Checkup with Your MHCS Provider

Preventive care saves lives. An annual physical can catch silent problems before they become serious. Expect:

  • Vital sign checks (blood pressure, heart rate)
  • Blood tests for cholesterol and blood sugar
  • Screenings like prostate exams, colonoscopies and more based on age and history

2. Talk About Mental Health

Many men think they must handle stress, anxiety or depression alone, but you do not. Mental health affects physical health. What to do:

  • Have an honest conversation with your MHCS provider
  • Schedule an appointment with behavioral health experts in our Specialty Clinic
  • Learn the signs of stress and depression

3. Don’t Ignore Sexual Health

Sexual health is part of whole health. But over half of men don’t know how to improve it and a third are too embarrassed to talk about it1. Take action:

  • Learn about issues like low testosterone or Peyronie’s disease
  • Schedule a visit with a MHCS Specialty Clinic urologist.
