Memorial Hospital Price Information

At Memorial Hospital, we understand that you may need to determine how much a procedure or service will cost prior to receiving the service. If you need help determining how much a service or procedure at Memorial Hospital will cost, please contact us at (402) 643-2971 and ask for Patient Accounts.

A full list of standard charges used by the hospital is provided below. This list is updated annually and may not reflect the current price. Memorial Hospital retains the right to update prices without notice. If you have questions about the expected costs of a service at Memorial Hospital please contact us at (402) 643-2971 and ask for Patient Accounts.

Actual costs may differ from estimates depending on actual services performed, length of time at the hospital and/or complications. The hospital estimates do not include costs charged by other medical professionals outside the hospital but who are involved in a patient's care such as physicians and radiologists.

The patient's responsibility may vary depending on the coverage benefits of their health insurance.

Insurance
If your insurance card indicates that pre-authorization or pre-certification of services is required, please contact your insurance company and/or physician's office prior to services at Memorial Hospital. Failure to obtain authorization may result in reduced insurance benefits from your insurance company.

Your insurance coverage will be verified before or during your hospitalization, and we will submit appropriate claims to your insurance company following your dismissal.

Medicare
Memorial Hospital will bill Medicare for services rendered and will also submit a bill to your supplemental or private insurance carriers as applicable. As the patient, you are responsible for any deductibles, co-payments, or other amounts not covered by Medicare.

Medicaid
All Medicaid patients are required to present a CURRENT eligibility card at the time of patient registration. Patients who fail to verify coverage will be responsible for payment. Once verified, Memorial Hospital will bill Medicaid for services rendered. As the patient, you are responsible for any deductibles, co-payments, or other amounts not covered by Medicaid.

Workers Compensation
Memorial Hospital will bill your employer/carrier for treatment of any work-related injury for which the employer/carrier accepts responsibility. As the patient, you and/or your health insurance company will be responsible for any bill that the employer/carrier denies.

Third Party Liability
Memorial Hospital will bill the carrier of a third party for treatment of any injury for which the third party was deemed liable. If you are a Medicare or Medicaid recipient, health care laws require that we bill the liability carrier first, then Medicare or Medicaid. As the patient, you and/or your insurance company will be responsible for any bill that the third party/liability provider denies. Please note that if you are insured by Blue Cross Blue Shield, under contract they require us to bill them first for liability claims.

Itemized Bills
You will receive monthly statements for services provided by Memorial Hospital. You can request itemized bills by contacting the patient accounts department at 402-643-2971.

Billing and Financial Arrangements
Balances listed as "AMOUNT DUE NOW" on your monthly statement are due immediately upon receipt. If you are unable to pay this amount, please call our patient accounts representatives to make an acceptable arrangement with us for the payment of your balance.

Payment by Cash, Personal Check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards are accepted. Seward Memorial Hospital is a nonprofit organization that depends on prompt payment for services.

Patient Notice of Financial Aid
Seward Memorial Hospital is proud of its mission to provide quality care to all who need it, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

If you do not have medical coverage and worry that you may not be able to pay in full for your care, we may be able to help. Memorial Hospital provides financial aid to patients based on their income, assets, and needs. In addition, we may be able to help you apply for public assistance or work with you to arrange a manageable payment plan.

It is important that you let us know if you will have trouble paying your bill; federal and state laws require all hospitals to seek full payment of what they bill patients. This means that we may turn unpaid bills over to a collection agency, which could affect your credit status.

In addition to your hospital bill, you may also receive a separate bill from other providers such as the physician. Our financial aid program relates only to the care provided by Memorial Hospital.

If you have questions about financial assistance call 402-646-4704 or email us at patient.accounts@mhcs.us.
